We build exceedingly good sofas. We see each piece as a work of art, not just mere furniture. Our master craftsmen painstakingly hand craft each piece using centuries old techniques handed down through generations. We travel the world to acquire the finest leather and fabric.
Every part and material we use has been exhaustively tested for quality and longevity. Hence we are confident enough to extend our 10 year guarantee to 25 years, for all solid wooden frames. (see Terms)
Our skilled craftsmen and women hold themselves to a high standard because they are proud of what they produce. We see each and every piece of furniture we produce as a work of art and we build them to last for decades, not years
Our team have a combined experience of over 30 years building fine sofas for a select clientele who appreciate quality and refinement above all else. Furniture should be more than just something to fill your house with. We strive to break with tradition by refusing to build bland universal furniture aimed at the masses, and we aim to build unique pieces to please your very own personal taste.
Can you think of a time when you had exactly the sofa you wanted without paying extortionate prices? We believe in providing you value for money, therefore every piece is meticulously crafted by experienced craftsmen.
We use only the finest materials available, working closely with a few carefully selected suppliers with a proven track record. This is the only way we can ensure each and every sofa we build passes our high standards.
It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to build your sofa by hand. This depends on the time of the year, as some periods are far busier than others.
Please note, the lead time is an estimate only and can be affected by the time of the year or unforeseen circumstances. If we are unable to meet the estimated dispatch or delivery date, we will contact you with a revised estimated date. Please also refer to our terms.
We never rush to finish an order, since it will compromise the built quality. Neither do we move your order up the queue for a fee. All orders are strictly done "first come first served". So you can be sure your sofas are being made with the greatest attention to detail.
Good sofas come to those who wait. It certainly takes time to build to perfection, and when it comes to an important piece of furniture such as a sofa, it is time well spent. The sofa is and always will be the most used piece of furniture in your living room. Therefore it is wise to think of it as a long term investment and be prepared to wait for the right one.

David went out of his way to find the fabric I was looking for. I am amazed companies like this still exist. We got shrugged off by all other shops after the first few samples were not good enough. But David kept at it until we were happy. Pre-sale, after sales service and the settee has been astounding.
Make sure you ask them about their entire range of materials. We didn't realise until we placed an order. Then we started reading about all the variety of fabrics they do and had a bunch of samples sent to us. Thankfully they changed our order just in time, as we chose a gorgeous antique look velvet which was not even on their site.
I cannot comment on longer term, however from what I can see so far the sofa is exceptionally well made and looks to be of a high quality.
I am exceptionally happy with my new corner sectional and footstool. From the quality to the price and service, everything stood head and shoulders above competitors.
We are somewhat regular customers at Handmade Chesterfields. We were probably one of the first customers soon after they started, and their prices were good, too good to be true. But now that they have got popular they are jacking up their prices. I would still buy from them when I need a quality piece, but it it goes any higher they have lost me as a regular.
Hi Lynne, thank you very much for your kind words. This is Alex, I was the one who took your very first order:) Please understand as a business grows, so do the costs of running it. We always strive to cut costs anywhere we can, except when it comes to the actual sofas we produce. There comes a time that there are no more unnecessary costs that you can cut and you have to make a decision, do you cut quality to keep prices low, or do you increase prices to cover the costs. We chose the latter, as we believe a sofa is a long term purchase. It needs to serve you for many years to come. We hope in the long run our customers would appreciate this and understand that quality will come at a price, and with us it's still a very reasonable one. Hope we can still serve you in the future. Kind regards, Alex
